A total of five bills will have first reading in a sitting of the National Assembly, scheduled to be held at the National Assembly Chambers, Government Headquarters, Basseterre, on Thursday. Apart from these bills, two other bills will have a second reading during the assembly session. The Order Paper has been circulated to all regarding the bills.
Prime Minister and Minister responsible for Finance Dr Timothy Harris, will read Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Bill/Asset Recovery Bill, 2019, Non-Governmental Organizations (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and Anti-Money Laundering (National Committee) Bill, 2019 for the first time.
Further, PM will move the second reading of the Constitution of St. Christopher and Nevis (Tenure of the Office of the Prime Minister (Amendment) Bill, 2019, which had its first reading on February 21, 2018.
The Electronic Communications Bill, 2019 will be introduced for the first time by the Attorney General and Minister responsible for Elections and Communications, Justice and Legal Affairs, Senator Vincent Byron.
Furthermore, The Honourable Minister responsible for the Ministry of Agriculture, Health, National Health Insurance, Human Settlement, Community Development, Gender Affairs, Social Services, Environment, Cooperatives and Lands, Eugene Hamilton, will see leave to introduce and have read a first time National Conservation and Environmental Management Bill, 2019.
Also, The Senior Minister and Minister responsible for Labour, Social Security and Ecclesiastical Affairs, Vance Amory, will move the second reading of Seventh-day Adventist Church Incorporation (Amendment) Bill, 2019, which had its first reading on 30th July 2019.
