The Commonwealth Resounds (TCR) and the Antigua and Barbuda Youth Symphony Orchestra (ABYSO) announced a spectacular collaboration between the talented musicians from Antigua, Montserrat, and St. Kitts.
This groundbreaking collaboration bringing together singers aims to encourage musical creativity and cultural exchange among young musicians from these islands, mainly focusing on four exciting genres. The four areas of focus are Jazz, Film, Fusion, and Wind Band.
The programme for the year 2024 was scheduled to take place from July 15, 2024 to July 20, 2024 at Lucky Eddi’s, English Harbour in Antigua.
The selection process for the workshop was highly competitive. Three talented students were chosen to participate: Mikkall Walters, Hannah-Marie Williams, and Royel Pemberton.
The Ministry of Education has also sponsored all the participants and believes that they will create harmonies that echo the richness of St. Kitts and Nevis.
The Commonwealth Resounds is dedicated to promote music and culture across the Commonwealth, working closely with ABYSO to provide the participants with a transformative and unique experience.
This week-long unique partnership invited students and educators to participate, offering them a cultural experience in musical composition. The workshop aimed to promote culture, enhance music education, and open doors for new career opportunities in the music industry.
The Commonwealth Secretariat also endorsed the programme as an activity under the Commonwealth Year of the Youth.
The participants got the opportunity to learn from renowned facilitators such as the Khan Cordice, Reuben Bance, Jamie Smith, Ka Youn Yoo, and Gabriel Taylor.
These experts bring a wealth of experience and knowledge in their respective fields, ensuring a qualitative educational experience for all the attendees.
The workshop will culminate on 20th July, 2024 and will showcase original works composed by the ones who participated. The event promises to be a celebration of creativity and talent, attended by parents, friends, and music enthusiasts.
