St Kitts & Nevis: PM Drew urged people to unite in building a sustainable nation during 2024 New Year's Gala. ,image :facebook

Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, addressed the nation of St Kitts and Nevis during the 2024 New Year’s Gala.

In his address, PM Drew first took the opportunity of a recognised number of attendees, including the governor-general of St Kitts and the deputy Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis. PM Drew thanked the Deputy prime minister for standing in for him when he was sick during the New Year’s Eve address.

At the gala, there were representatives from the Nevis administration, Canadian minister of gender affairs, Premier Brantley, Taiwan representatives and USA representatives. 

PM Drew extended his pride and joy of witnessing many people attending the event. He highlighted that the event had to be shifted from the board room because it was not big enough to accommodate all the attendees.  

PM Drew accentuated that he was filled with gratitude towards the St Kitts and Nevis nationals for overcoming all the problems of 2023 … He highlighted that 2023 was a year of rebuilding, reenvisioning, restructuring, and 2024 is the year of transformation and growth, as it unveils itself as a year opportunity of fresh start and realisation of the shared dream of a better tomorrow following the vision of a sustainable island. 

PM Dr Terrance Dew emphasised that the unveiling of hope and cooperation of St Kitts and Nevis residents have been the driving force that has propelled Twin’s Island. 

PM Dr Terrance Dew highlighted that it’s more than just an aspiration for a sustainable island; it is a commitment to build a resilient nation that prioritises the well-being of all people.  

He highlighted that sustainability does not only speak to the environment, but it mentions other things, such as the seven pillars of gender that serve as a foundation to build a sustainable nation. 

The seventh pillars is as follows 

  •  food security 
  • social protection, 
  • covid 19 recovery,
  • green energy 
  •   green enery transition 
  •  economic diservisivication ,
  •  sustainable industry,
  • creative economy  

PM Terrance Drew emphasised that action without vision is only passing time; vision without action is just like daydreaming, but vision with action can change the world.

As St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, we have shown you our vision, and you have seen our action as we work tirelessly toward our mission and vision of becoming a sustainable island state. And you have seen this over the last 16 months, stated Dr Drew.

PM Dr Terrance Drew highlighted that in 2024, the government is going to make inevitable changes as it unfolds the fruit of that labour that they have been working out on.

Furthermore, Dr Terrance Drew requested the audience to take a toast towards hope, solidarity, sustainable island.
