The Anti-Narcotic Unit of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, in collaboration with the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force Coast Guard, recovered an illegal firearm from a boat on December 31st, 2023.
The SKNDFCG intercepted the vessel off the coast of Sandy Point, St Kitts. After being escorted to the marina in New Guinea, the ship was searched for contraband.
During the searching, the police officers recovered 38 Revolver Pistol. The scene was processed by the Crime Scene Unit and the firearm and the three people who were aboard were taken into custody.
Quincy Conroy Van Hennigen of Dutch Quarter, St Maarten; Jason Anthony Richardson of St. Kitts, residing in Middle Region, St. Maarten; and Wagneris Michell Valdez Dias of the Dominican Republic, living at Sucker Garden, St. Maarten, were each charged for two offences, namely Possession of a Firearm and Importation of a Firearm On January 3rd 2023.
Ms Dias was issued a copy of her charges in her native language, Spanish. All charges were laid at the Basseterre Police Station.
This case has floated on social media with different comments and reactions.
A social media by the name of Joan Matthews took to Facebook and expressed her thoughts of deporting the criminals after saving their time. He said Make them serve their sentence and, once done deport them without any hold-up. Could you not keep them here about right? They don’t have any.
And other social media users wrote And: it has begun. Much more to come. Border patrol will be busy in 2024.
The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) has promised the residents that this year will be different, and they are going to do whatever it takes to stop this kind of criminal activity.
