The Federation of St Kitts and Nevis is all set to host three high level regional meetings of Ministers of Education, Human and Social Development in the next week.
The Ministry of Social Development and Gender Affairs made a press release on September 4, 2024 to inform about the meeting that are to be held next week.
Significantly, these high level regional meetings will be conducted from September 10th to 13th, 2024.
The (9th) Ninth Meeting of the Council of Human and Social Development Ministers has been scheduled for September 10th, 2024 and will be held at the St Kitts Marriott Resort.
This meeting will be convened under the chairmanship of the Minister of Social Development and Gender Affairs, Isalean Philip and will see the Ministers of Human and Social Development attending from all English-speaking member states of the OECS.
The Minister of Social Development and Gender Affairs, Isalean Philip and the Permanent Secretary, Azilla Clarke, being the hosts, will participate and lead various discussions on matters of social protection.
It is also generally considered to be the combined policies and programmes in a country that helps to reduce poverty and vulnerability.
Specifically, participants will aim to share ideas and accomplishments on social empowerment and also secure the support of the regional agencies towards improving social protection measures within the region.
In addition to this, the attendees will also review the implementation of the Social Inclusion Protection (SISP) Strategic Action Plan. It is to be noted that it runs from 2023-2030.
The topics of discussion during the Meeting will also include Social Protection Systems and Strategies, the OECS Regional Child Policy, and Investing in Shock-Responsive and Resilient Social Protection Systems in the Eastern Caribbean.
The Inaugural Joint Meeting of the Ministers of Health, Education, and Social Services will be held on September 11th, 2024, The joint meeting will be followed by the Ninth Meeting of the Council of Education Ministers convened under Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Dr Geoffrey Hanley.
