Basseterre, St Kitts: The Government of St Kitts and Nevis has announced the official launch of the calendar of events and activities for the 41 years of Independence of the country.
The 41st Independence Celebration is held under the inspiring theme, “Together, a People, Proud and Strong: Independence 41.”
Under this inspiring theme, St Kitts and Nevis will celebrate its rich heritage, vibrant culture, and collective achievements with a series of dynamic and engaging events.
The 41st Independence Day Celebrations will commence on Wednesday, 28 August, 2024 and continue till Sunday, October 27, 2024. The two-month long celebration will feature a wide range of activities that showcases the spirit of people of St Kitts and Nevis.
From the much-awaited National Colours Days, where citizens wear national colours on designated days, to National Heroes Day Celebrations, and much more, every event has been planned to ensure a memorable and inclusive celebration.
Dr Marcus L Natta, Cabinet Secretary and Co-Chair of the Independence 41 Organising Committee, expressed excitement about the upcoming events and stated, “This year’s Independence celebrations are a testament to the resilience of our people. The diverse range of activities planned reflects our commitment to celebrating our nation’s history, culture and achievements.”
The events will be celebrated while looking forward tears a sustainable future, Dr Natta added.
Viera Galloway, Director in the Prime Minister’s Office and Co-Chair of the Organising Committee, highlighted the importance of the community involvement.
He said that “We are thrilled to present a calendar filled with events that cater to every segment of our society. From youth-focused initiatives to events that honour our heroes and traditions, we invite everyone to participate and show their national pride.
“Together, we will create lasting memories as we celebrate 41 years of Independence,” added Galloway.
From the list of 41 Independence Day Celebration events, some highlighted events include: National Colours Days on August 30, September 06, 13, 20, and 27, where citizens are encouraged to wear the colours of the national flag.
National Tree Planting Day on August 31, 2024. Patriotic Day on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, encouraging all to wear their national colours and participate in the festivities.
Independence Day Parade Ceremonies on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Independence State Service and Gospel Concert on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Night of Dance on Sunday, October 27, 2024, as a grand finale to the celebrations.
