Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis: The Permanent Mission of St. Kitts and Nevis to the Organization of American States (OAS) and the OAS Art Museum of the Americas (AMA) within the OAS Secretariat for Hemispheric Affairs (SHA) has announced an open call to artists from St. Kitts and Nevis.
Artists of St. Kitts and Nevis are invited to submit works of modern and contemporary art for consideration to be included in the esteemed permanent art collection of the OAS AMA in Washington, D.C., USA.
The last day to submit the entries for the art collection is August 1, 2024.
In line with the ongoing efforts to promote Caribbean Art, this initiative enhances the representation of all the OAS AMA permanent art collections. This call for artwork from St. Kitts and Nevis also underscores the commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
The organizers have also laid down certain guidelines for the submission of the entries.
Artists eligible to submit their works of art should be citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis. The size of the artwork should be no more than 300×300 cm. Submissions are only accepted in specific media forms: two-dimensional painting, mixed media, and photography.
There are some defined entry requirements: Participants are required to provide an artist statement of 500 words or less, one to three high-resolution digital images of the artwork in its completed form in JPEG format, 6” x 6” image size, and an artist resume that should include a biography and exhibition record.
The deadline for the entries is 1 August 2024. A panel of four judges will evaluate entries based on aesthetics, technique, and originality. The winner will be announced by 1 September 2024.
The winner will be notified via email by the OAS AMA | Art Museum of the Americas and the Permanent Mission of St. Kitts and Nevis to the OAS.
The chosen artwork will be delivered to the OAS AMA | Art Museum of the Americas, with costs of transportation and insurance covered by the organizers.
The winning artist will either receive a prize of 1000 USD or a visit to Washington, D.C., for a formal handover.
