St. Kitts and Nevis: PM Dr. Terrance Drew’s son, Terrance Drew Jr., has launched a week-long campaign in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis called ‘Take A Bite Out of Crime.’ The program seeks to encourage young men to be at the forefront of the fight against crime in their communities.
Through the ‘Take A Bite Out of Crime’ campaign, the stakeholders will visit every primary school in the federation as it stresses that the actions, even if they are minimal, of the young people are what is essential in building safer, more resilient communities.
Drew Jr. and his committed team of young ambassadors began working on the campaign. They visited four primary schools within the area; namely, Immaculate Conception Catholic School, Epworth Maurice Hiller Primary School, Dieppe Bay Primary School, and Dean Glasford Primary School.
The young men’s call to the male students was to stand up and be counted in making their respective communities safe.
The disturbing growth of crime in St. Kitts and Nevis stirred the young Drew Jr. into action. Terrance Drew Jr. stated that he believes young men have the potential to be beacons of change in the communities and, and the entire federation.
In his visits to the schools, Drew Jr. and his team made sure to educate the students on how crime affects society. He said there needs to be a conscious awareness that must be instituted so that necessary actions can be taken to prevent or reduce crime.
Drew Jr. said he owes credit to the outstanding members of his team, which included Maleek Queeley, Vihandré Bridgewater, Jewel Smith, and Maleah Erskine, for the courage to take up this important challenge to be the change agents of and for their communities.
Terrance Drew Jr. said he will visit every primary school on the island federation so that no child is left behind in this very critical journey of ensuring safer communities.
Drew Jr. urges all to hold hands and join forces with him to work towards taking a bite out of crime so that they can secure a better future for all.
