The St Kitts and Nevis Under 20 Football team defeated the Cayman Islands in the final match of the Concacaf qualifier held on Tuesday evening. The team finished the game at 3-0, placing themselves at 3rd ahead of the Cayman Islands.
According to the information, this was the final match of the Concacaf Under 20 under the Group E Category held at the SKNFA Technical Centre. Dequan Joseph, lead his team by securing all three goals and placing the opponent at 0.
It is to be noted that the team lost at the previous two matches held against Puerto Rico and Haiti and this was the first and resounding victory for the Young Sugarboyz. These previous matches were held on February 23, and February 25, 2024.
Samal Duggins- the Minister of Sports in St Kitts and Nevis congratulated the team on their remarkable win against the Cayman Islands. “We surely can if we believe! Huge congratulations to team St. Kitts and Nevis, the Young Sugarboyz, on their spectacular victory against the Cayman Islands last evening!” he added.
Further, he also gave a special shout-out to Dequan for scoring a hat-trick in the 16th, 45+1, and 81st minutes and taking his team to victory.
“Special shoutout to Dequan “Hat-trick” Hamilton from Montraville Farms CleanRite Old Road United Jets for his incredible performance, scoring all three goals! St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA),” Minister Duggins quoted.
Meanwhile, following the match, Dequen shared his experience and said it was crucial to win in the last match of their tournament in front of the home fans.
“I just told myself we have to come out on in the last game and do better, play harder because we can’t play at home with three defeats,” he remarked.
