Minister Samal Duggins highlighted that the Department of Sports has achieved the remarkable feat of reintroducing football in schools after a prolonged hiatus. The Minister of Sports also accentuated that the Ministry’s ambitious plans involve upgrading all sporting facilities.
Furthermore, the Department of Sports hosted a string of successful regional sporting events, making it a year of sporting excellence. Minister Samal Duggins gave a big shoutout to Permanent Secretary Valencia Syder and Director Jeffrey Hazel, along with their stellar team, for their dedication.
Moreover, Minister Samal Diggins shared the great achievements of all St Kitts and Nevis national sports teams. The Minister of Sports highlighted that the senior men’s national football team etched its name in history.
The St Kitts and Nevis national men’s volleyball team secured a commendable second place. The SKN national netball team emerged as undisputed champions, and the national basketball team also clinched the championship.
Furthermore, Minister Duggins emphasized that Jahzara Claxton’s triumph in the cricket arena showcases the exceptional talent of the athletes, who not only shine nationally but also make a resounding impact on the international stage.
Nevertheless, Minister Duggins highlighted that the sports department’s and athletes’ collective effort is needed to achieve success and raise the flag of SKN globally.
Additionally, Minister Samal Duggins celebrated the Montraville Farms CleanRite Old Road United Jets female and male teams for their outstanding achievements in the 2023 football season.
Minister Duggins accentuated that the women were ranked as the 2023 Elvis Star Browne Women’s League Champions, while the men showcased their prowess with a third runners-up finish in the Premier League
