The prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis has called upon the residents and citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis to start taking an interest in the nation’s politics. He urged the citizens to raise the level of political discussion and muster a renewed spirit of patriotism in their search for a better economy, improved healthcare, enhanced educational opportunities, a healthier environment, and more robust structures of good governance.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance made the strong call to action Drew while addressing thousands who attended the Swearing-in ceremony of the prime minister’s Cabinet Members on Saturday, August 13, 2022, physically and virtually. The swearing-in ceremony was hosted at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium.
Dr Drew urged the citizens to work hard to resist the temptation of falling back into the divisiveness, selfishness, pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned the politics of St Kitts and Nevis for a long time.
“True and enduring progress can only come when we move from a state of independence to dynamic interdependence.”
Prime Minister Terrance Drew reflected on the “great victory” on August 05, 2022, polls in which St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party managed to capture six out of the eight seats contested that the political party was contesting in St. Kitts. He noted that it was now time for the nation to heal so that we could bridge the divides that are prevalent in the nation and transform St Kitts and Nevis.
Further, the prime minister addressed the voters whose support the political party is yet to earn, he also addressed the voters in Nevis and our Nevisian brothers and sisters who did not have the chance to cast their vote directly for the St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party. He assured those voters that I want you to know that hr valued their voices as well and reminded them that he was their Prime Minister too and therefore answerable to all of them as well.
The Prime Minister emphasized that with all of us (the citizens and the leaders) working together, the country will survive and thrive.”
He urged, “We have a country to build and a nation to mould. Let’s get to work!”
