St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) secured a clear majority in the National Assembly, winning six seats out of eight that the political party had contested for, following the August 5, 2022, General Elections of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis.

The country hosted the general elections on Friday, August 5, 2022; meanwhile, the results for the same were announced throughout the next day, Saturday, August 6.

According to the results declared by St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) elected six of their eight nominated candidates to the general assembly. The constituencies #1, #2, #3, #4, #6 and #8 chose the political party to represent them in the General Assembly for the following tenure.

The announcement of the national holiday was made as a part of the celebration of the SKNLP following their historic victory in the General Elections. to start the celebrations off, St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party have announced a “Victory Motorcade” for their supporters and the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis. 

The motorcade will start at 8:00 AM from the Frigate Bay Lawn st Kitts on Monday, August 2022. 

The details of the Monday following the nation-wide general elections being a “National Holiday” and “Victory Motorcade” were both shared by the official account of both the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew and the Political Party, St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) who called for all the supporters of SKNLP and Dr Terrance Drew to join the celebration. 

SKNLP and the new Prime Minister of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis were showered in congratulatory messages from the various political parties of the country following their tremendous victory.
