Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr Terrance Drew visited and conducted a walkthrough at the Cayon High School to first handed see the tremendous work being done to get the school ready for this academic year.
The visit took place on August 29, 2024 and the Prime Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister, also responsible for Ministry of Education, Dr Geoffrey Hanley.
PM Drew shared glimpses of the minor remedial works on the school and of his meaningful conversations with the workers, on his official social media account.
These works are being done on the education facility to ensure the it is in a state of readiness for the commencement of the 2024-2025 academic year from Monday, September 02.
While sharing the pictures from his visit, he noted that the administration has invested in hundreds of thousands of dollars to replace doors, windows, railings, and to rid the school of Molds.
Significantly, the work being done at the school includes the installation of doors and windows, painting on certain areas to remove graffiti, modernisation of the bathroom facilities, and the outfitting of the school with significant amount of new furniture that has been bought by the government for both the teachers and students.
The highlights and official updates about the renovation has also been shared by the official Facebook of the Cayon High School and the officials have noted that the renovation work will continue at the school in the coming weeks.
It is also to be noted that this investment is regarded as the largest sum invested at any one time at the Cayon High School in over a decade.
Prime Minister Terrance Drew also stated that his administration will continue to invest in these institutions as students, teachers, and quality of education matters.
Notably, the Ministry of Education hosted its Back-to School Ceremony for this academic year on August 26, 2024 and the Minister of Education Geoffrey Hanley reaffirmed his commitment to the advancement of education, teacher support, and safe working conditions.
