The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, attended a special service hosted at Pentecostal Church of God in Basseterre. This service was held on Sunday, October 30, in recognition of 10th anniversary of the Retired Energetic Nurses Touching All Lives (RENTAL) Association.
During his address, The Prime Minister highlighted and applauded the contributions of the retired nurses at an event. According to the Prime Minister, retired nurses continue to play active roles in ensuring the effective delivery of healthcare services in St Kitts and Nevis.
According to the Prime Minister, “The numerous stories and experiences these nurses have gathered throughout their careers, the lives that they have saved, and the countless lives they have positively impacted through their selfless sacrifice will inform and inspire.”
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew believes that being a nurse calls for tremendous sacrifice. You sacrifice time with your family and loved ones and your own lives. This sacrifice is more evident than ever with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
During his address, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew talked about the commitment and sacrifice required to ensure the nation’s safety.
Prime Minster Drew added, “Many of you went home. Many of you touched lives, not knowing what would happen to you or your family.”
He stated that during the pandemic, the nurses demonstrated why nursing is a calling, not a job.”
Retired Energetic Nurses Touching All Lives (RENTAL) Association’s tenth anniversary is being observed under the theme, “Ten Years Together, Still Making A Difference.”
Reflecting on the anniversary celebration theme, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew stated that this year’s theme suggests activeness. It says, yes, we have retired. However, we are still here to make an impact. We contribute to the healthcare industry and serve our fellow citizens and residents.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew added, This is indeed commendable. You didn’t just retire but chose to find meaning in your retirement by forming an association where you can continue to engage and to serve.”
