The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, took to his social media account to extend his best wishes to the newly appointed Deputy Governor-General, Walford Gumbs, for his new responsibilities as the Deputy governor-general of the country. The new deputy governor-general of St Kitts and Nevis was sworn into his position on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. Marcella Liburd, the fifth governor-general of St Kitts and Nevis, swore her deputy into his work during a brief Ceremony.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Drew, shared some images from the swearing-in ceremony of the deputy governor general on his social media account. He extended his heartfelt best wishes to Walford Gumbs for his new responsibilities and role. Deputy Governor-General Gumbs is succeeding the former deputy of the governor-general, Hyleta Liburd.

Further, the minister of foreign affairs in the government of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil Douglas and the country’s Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Geoffrey Hanley, took to his social media to extend their best wishes to Walford Gumbs.
Notably, the newly appointed Deputy Governor General formerly served as the national assembly speaker. He has also served the nation in the capacity of Ombudsman. Dr Hanley joined Dr Terrance Drew in extending heartiest congratulations to St Kitts and Nevis stalwarts.
In his social media post, which Dr Hanley , the Deputy Prime Minister stated that I am confident Gumbs will carry out his duties professionally and with utmost regard for the law of the land and his legacy. We wish him much success in his new role. Dr Denzil Douglas also shared a similar post on his social media to extend his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the Deputy Governor General
