Leaders of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) have taken to their respective social media accounts to share their excitement and appreciation for Marcella Liburd, the first female governor General of St Kitts and Nevis. Liburd succeeded Sir Tapley Seaton after being sworn into her position at 12:01 AM on February 1, 2023.
After her swearing-in ceremony, the various leaders of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) have come out on their social media accounts to commend and congratulate the fifth governor General. The Minister of Environment, sustainable development and constituency empowerment, Joyelle Clarke, shared an image featuring the Governor General with all the women leaders of SKNLP.
She wrote a congratulatory post for Governor-General Liburd, stating that she was really happy that St Kitts-Nevis is sticking to its commitment to ensuring more young persons and women participate in politics. She explained that This picture was captured at the installation ceremony for the Federation’s first female Governor General, Her Excellency Marcella Althea Liburd.
The Minister of Tourism and civil aviation et al., Marsha Henderson, also took to her social media to extend his congratulations. She recounted the experience of the swearing-in ceremony when St Kitts and Nevis installed our first female Governor-General. She was the former parliamentary representative for St Christopher #2, Former Deputy Leader of St Kitts Nevis Labour Party, Former & First Speaker of the National Assembly, Former Lawyer, Former Teacher & Sportswoman and dare I say, one of, if not the most accomplished national leader in the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis.

Senator and Junior Minister in the SKNLP led government, Isalean Phillip, also shared an image on her social media where she was posing with the various female leaders and cabinet members.
The Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, Attorney General Garth Wilkin, also expressed his excitement about the appointment of Marcella Liburd. He recalled his connection to Lady Anne, Governor General Liburd’s mother, through a Facebook post and asserted that she would be extremely proud of her daughter for her accomplishments.
