The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, hosted the first press conference of his tenure on Monday, October 17, 2022. During the Press conference, The Prime Minister updated the citizens and residents of St Kitts and Nevis on the developments made by his Political Party, St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, during their tenure.
Additionally, the cabinet ministers also attended the Press Conference. The ministers included Deputy Prime Minister Dr Geoffrey Hanley; Dr Denzil Douglas; Konris Maynard; Attorney General Garth Wilkin; Marsha Henderson, Samal Duggins; Senator Dr Joyelle Clarke and Senator Isalean Phillip.
The Ministers also updated the public about the work that they had done in their respective ministries.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew started the press conference by discussing the positive developments in healthcare delivery, education, social services and international relations. He gave the media updates about the growth in these areas during the tenure of his government.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew’s Government has been in office for over two months.
Prime Minister Terrance Drew, who also serves as the minister of Health for the government of St Kitts and Nevis, informed the media during his Press conference that his government has made several efforts to transform and upgrade the health sector of St Kitts and Nevis.
PM Terrance Drew talked about the promises made by his government at the time of the elections. He reiterated that the government is trying to fulfil all the promises the political party made to the people.
Adding to this, he informed that his government had successfully approved the funding for the assistance of children needing medical treatment. He mentioned the first child to get the financing, Ju’Niyah. The child travelled to Barbados for her ten-month treatment with Chemotherapy and other additional medicine.
Shortly after the SKNLP leaders assumed office, the government purchased an MRI Machine for the JNF General Hospital. This purchase aimed to make the service affordable and accessible to the people of St Kitts and Nevis.
Further, Dr Terrance Drew also stated that the government has started to work on improving and strengthening the nation’s Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programme.
Prime Minister Drew assured the people that (their) government would keep working on the principles of transparency, integrity, openness and accountability.
