The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, also the minister of Health in the government of his country, dedicated a day to visiting the hospitals around St Kitts. First, he visited the Pogson Hospital in Sandy Point, where the hospital authorities gave him a tour of the facilities. He also went to the JNF General Hospital as a part of the tour.
He shared glimpses into his “hospital tours” on his Social Media Profiles.
In the first post, relating to the Pogson Hospital in Sandy Point, PM Terrance Drew detailed that the hospital staff gave him a tour of the Hospital.
Through his Facebook post, Dr Terrance Drew stated that the nurses, staff and residents were satisfied with the recent change made by the government.
The government, headed by Dr Terrance Drew, introduced several changes and reforms to ensure that a medical doctor is available to benefit the neighbourhood’s people around the clock.
The Prime Minister stated that the additions are a part of the government’s drive to improve medical care and the overall delivery of healthcare services in Sandy Point and surrounding communities.
Further, Dr Terrance Drew also visited the JNF General Hospital as part of his tour. During the visit, Prime Minister Terrance Drew encountered a challenge that needed to be immediately solved and dealt with by the staff of the Hospital. He shared the update on his Facebook account in the following words:
There was a challenge in getting the bloodlines for the dialysis machines. So I think the staff quickly had to improvise and make sure that they dealt with the situation by changing up the shift in which people are given dialysis, and I want to thank them for being innovative while dealing with the challenge.
A haemodialysis bloodline system is a type of tubing system that connects a patient’s blood circulation to a dialyzer during dialysis treatment.
We have been able to get in the bloodlines, which are important to working the dialysis machine. That line we are talking about allows the blood to go out, go through the device, and then come back into the patient.
We have resolved that to this moment and will ensure that the staff is dealing with the situation. So at this moment, operations are back to normal, patients are receiving their treatment, and I wish all the patients well.
I want to express heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the nursing staff at the Haemodialysis Unit for their tremendous work and continued sacrifice in making sure that this life-saving treatment is available here for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
