The Government of St Kitts and Nevis is working on strengthen and improve the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme the nation offers for enhanced sustainability.

Attorney-General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs in the Government of St Kitts and Nevis, Garth Wilkin, made this announcement during his recent appearance at the “Issues SKN” on Freedom FM 106.5.

During the interview, Minister Wilkin stated, “We are in the process of putting things in place so that we can have the [CBI] Programme for a long time.

Additionally, he stated that we will do things right because we see that it is crucial.”

Attorney-General Wilkin said they had discussions with relevant stakeholders in the sector. Further, the minister stated the Prime Minister (of St Kitts and Nevis), Dr Terrance Drew, and himself have met with local developers. He added that they had had discussions with international investors. Some of these investors want to come into the Federation (for the first time), and some want to return to the country.

He added that they had had discussions with existing developers. All the ministers of St Kitts and Nevis know how it functions and the importance of the Citizenship by Investment programme to our economy.

Attorney-General Garth Wilkin reflected on the durability of the CBI Programme since its inception in 1984. He added that the Government, and the whole of St Kitts and Nevis, is “proud of its successes, benefitted from its success”,

He also added that the nation desired to enhance the sustainability of the CBI Programme.

According to him, the CBI Programme must be administered in such a manner that all stakeholders may have an equal opportunity to benefit from the programme. Thus, the Government of St Kitts and Nevis is creating and formulating improved investment options for swift implementation. The Government plans to maintain a progressive Programme and cement St Kitts and Nevis’ place as a leader in the CBI Industry.
