St Kitts and Nevis played host to the OECS for the celebration of the 42nd Anniversary of the OECS. The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew took the opportunity to deliver some remarks during the flag-raising and opening ceremony of the 73rd meeting of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). The 73rd meeting of the OECS took place on Sunday, June 18, 2023. The leader of the opposition.

Many other leaders from around the Caribbean were also present at the opening ceremony as the representatives of their respective nations. The 73rd meeting of the OECS Authority was significant for the members of the OECS. This is because, Dr Terrance Drew, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, assumed the chairmanship of the OECS during this event.

Eastern Caribbean Central Bank Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium served as the venue for the opening ceremony, which took place after the flag raising ceremony. Prime Minister Dr Drew took to his official social media account to share some significant glimpses from the event. He also expressed his pride and honour on being chosen to serve as the chairman the OECS for the upcoming tenure.

In the remarks, which he delivered at the opening ceremony of the 73rd Meeting of the OECS Authority. He acknowledged all the attendants of the meeting present at the auditorium and the meeting as representative of St Kitts and Nevis. The list of the attendants includes Ministers of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet and the Members of the Nevis Island Assembly.

Further, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis acknowledged the only surviving national hero of the country, Sir Kennedy Simonds. He is the founding member of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). He urged the former Prime Minister to take a vow again. Further, he alluded to the significant contribution and hard work done by Former Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas.

Further Dr Terrance drew asserted that he is honoured to be the chairman of the OECS. He promised to take up he position when called upon. He also committed that he would lead the OECS with grace and pride. The prime Minister shared that the support that he has been receiving from the fellow leaders and nationals is appreciated. He stated, “I stand here tonight ready to be the chairman of the OECS.”
