Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew acknowledged the contributions and honoured the life of Louise Phillips-Jones through the renaming of the Keys Community Centre to Louise Phillips Jones Multi-Purpose Center.
Accompanying PM Terrance Drew, the people of the Keys Community gathered to celebrate the renaming of the Keys Community Center, which will now be known as the Louise Phillips Jones Multi-Purpose Center.
PM Drew shared glimpses of the gathering where he with the elected representative for Constituency eight, honoured the life and legacy of Louise Phillips Jones, who is a beloved teacher, mentor, and community leader whose impact continues to resonate throughout Keys Village.
Prime Minister Drew, through his official social media, shared that Phillips-Jones was a dedicated teacher, mentor, supervisor, and leader who touched the lives of countless families. Her legacy is woven into the very fabric of the community.
He also extended special thanks to Dominic Stevens for bringing this project to life and to everyone who dedicated their time and efforts to the rehabilitation of the new multi-Purpose Center. He noted that this was indeed a community-led project which shows the spirit of Keys.
PM Drew delivered remarks and during his remarks, PM Drew underscored the influence of Jones noting her role in shaping the lives of the generations of residents of the key Community.
The Prime Minister appreciated Jones’ legacy as an educator who has been a guide to the young students and has helped them mold the character of the community’s youth.
The decision to rename the center in Mrs. Jones’s honor was initiated by a planning and dedication committee comprised of Keys residents.
Notably, the newly rededicated Louise Phillips Jones Multi-Purpose Center will serve as a place for after-school hour programs, community gatherings, and more. Prime Minister Drew expressed his hope that the center will continue to be a “living, breathing part of the Keys community”.
