Basseterre, St Kitts: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew congratulated the 25 Most Remarkable Teens (2024 Cohort) who were honoured during a special sitting of the National Assembly for their exceptional achievements in several areas.
This special session of the Federal Parliament was held on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024, to reward 25 young individuals who are making a positive impact on the lives of other people and are contributing to the development of St Kitts and Nevis.
The 25 Most Remarkable Teens that were honoured were a part of the thirteenth cohort and were acknowledged for their contributions in number of traditional and non-traditional areas.
These areas included Performing Arts and School Pride, Environmental Science, Scholar Athlete, Spirit of Hope, Courage to Overcome, Most Promising Teen, Spiritual Commitment, STEAM, and more.
The Prime Minister shared glimpses of the event and noted that these outstanding young people reflect great hope, as they embody the bright future of the Federation and serve as role models to their peers.
The Minister of Education, Dr Geoffrey Hanley took his official Facebook account to celebrate these young people. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the awardees and wished them to shine brightly in every endeavour and carry the title of “Most Remarkable Teen” with pride.
Samal Duggins, the Minister of Agriculture, Creative Economy, et al., also shared highlights of the award ceremony and expressed the feeling of pride stating that these teens who have been recognised are a spirit of hope and a powerful example of resilience and commitment.
Additionally, Governor-General Dame Marcella Liburd sent a message for the occasion that was read by Hasani McDonald, the President of St Kitts National Youth Parliament Association (SKNYPA). In her message, she described the 2024 class as an incredible group of young individuals whose achievements, passion and perseverance set them apart as leaders of today and tomorrow.
Similarly, Minister of State responsible for Youth, Isalean Phillip, lauded the teens for demonstrating extraordinary character, talents, leadership and fortitude in their lives thus far.
Notably, the youngsters received their awards from Members of Parliament and the profiles of all the 25 teens has been posted on the Facebook Page of the Department of Youth Empowerment, St. Kitts.
