St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew along with his wife, Diani Jimesha Prince Drew and other cabinet members honoured the brave heroes who made ultimate sacrifice during the Great Wars during the annual Remembrance Day Religious Service and Parade.
PM Drew shared the glimpses of the service and parade and noted that on Sunday St Kitts and Nevis paused to honour the brave heroes who gave their lives during the Great Wars of 1914 to 1918 (World War I) and 1939 to 195 (World War II).
The Ministers performed the honouring ceremony at the annual Remembrance Day Service which was held on Sunday, November 10th, 2024 at the Cenotaph in Fortlands. PM Terrance Drew noted that this ceremony served as a solemn tribute to their courage and dedication.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil L. Douglas also shared the highlights on his official social media and stated that St Kitts and Nevis paid homage to the heroes who gave their lives during the World War I and World War II.
Accompanied by Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew were his wife Diani Jimesha Prince Drew; Foreign Minister Dr Denzil Douglas; Governor-General Dame Marcella Liburd; Minister of Public Infrastructure, Konris G M Maynard; Senator Isalean Philip; and Attorney General Garth Wilkin.
In addition to this, other government officials as well as the members of the armed forces and uniformed bodies attended Sunday’s service which featured laying of wreaths in hour of the fallen heroes.
Sharing a post of bowing in respect of the sacrifice, PM Drew also mentioned that, “As we reflect on their bravery, let us resolve to nurture a peaceful society and become the living legacy of those who served valiantly. May we always remember their courage and their sacrifice.”
Notably, the annual Remembrance Day is observed every year to remember and respect those who have laid down their lives in conflict for the freedom of the country.
