PM Drew commends Minister Duggins on Kim Collins Stadium redevelopment

Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew complimented Minister of Sports and Creative Economy, Samal Duggins, for the remarkable work in the rehabilitation of the Kim Collins National Athletic Stadium. The redevelopment project is being managed by the Ministry of Sports since its beginning in 2023.

The head of the government posted the construction video of the stadium on his official Facebook page on April 12, 2025 and referred to the rehabilitation of the stadium as ‘important work’.  

Thanks to the Labour Administration, Hon. Samal Duggins and his team for this significant and important work,” he wrote.  


The Minister of Public, Konris Maynard highlighted the significance of the redevelopment of the Kim Collins Stadium and stated that this project will elevate the overall athletic and sporting experience, and will inspire their athletes in representing the Federation on an international level.

Development of Kim Collins Athletic Stadium 

Kim Collins Athletic Stadium has been undergoing a major transformation since July 2023 under the Public Works Department of the Ministry of sports of St Kitts and Nevis. The main aim of this transformation is to provide modern facilities to the athletes and spectators for an unforgettable experience.

The renovation of the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium has two main phases; the first being the installation of an advanced synthetic track, followed by enhanced redevelopment of the stadium to improve visitor experience .  

Some of the major upgrades included enhanced roofing, renovated seating, new doors and bathrooms, replaced roof tiles, new steel frames, upgraded walls and electric systems, worked plumbing, interior and exterior painting, new windows, and repaired leaks.

Moreover, the Ministry of Sports shared some details regarding the budget of the redevelopment cost of the stadium which was an estimated cost of $1.9 million. Furthermore, the new synthetic track is expected to cost around $3.8 million, including its installation.
