The Kim Collins Athletic Stadium is undergoing a major transformation with two major upgrades that will enhance the experience for the athletes and speculators. The work is managed by the Public Works Department of the Ministry of sports of St Kitts and Nevis to provide modern facilities for an unforgettable experience.
The transformation of the athletic stadium has been divided into two phases – laying a brand – new synthetic track, and Stadium rehabilitation for an enhanced experience.
Minister of Sports Samal Duggins stated that the administration of St Kitts and Nevis is committed to transform Kim Collins Athletic Stadium into a world class venue, capable of hosting regional and international sporting competitions.
Major Upgrades
- New Roofing – This will ensure a more safer and comfortable experience for the spectators and athletes alike.
- Seating upgrades – All exterior seating will be replaced with modern seating to enhance the overall spectating experience.
- Door replacement – Interior doors will be replaced with new ones, improving accessibility and safety.
- Bathroom renovations – All the old toilets, sinks, and showers will be replaced with newer ones.
- Roof tile replacement – Old and broken tiles will be replaced with new and better ones.
- Steel framing renovations – The steel framing structure will be repainted and will undergo sandblasting.
- Wall Replacement – Dry walls at the back of the building will be replaced with concrete walls for better security.
- Electrical overhaul – This will ensure a modern, efficient, and more safer electrical system at the stadium.
- Plumbing renovations – For a better, reliable, and more efficient water supply.
- Interior and exterior painting – The entire stadium will be repainted for a fresh look
- Window replacement – Existing windows will be replaced with improved ones for better light and ventilation.
- Leak repair – This will endure a dry and secure stadium

According to the details shared by the Ministry of Sports, these upgrades at Kim Collins Athletic Stadium were started in July 2023, with an estimated cost of $1.9 million. The new track is expected to cost around $3.8 million, including its installation.
