PM Drew Attends Diwali Celebrations, Extends Greetings to Indians in St Kitts and Nevis.

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew and wife Diani Jimesha Prince Drew has extended warm and heartfelt greetings to the Indians residing in St Kitts and Nevis on the special occasion of Diwali.

Prime Minister Terrance Drew shared glimpses of the celebration and wished the Hindu Community in St Kitts and Nevis a very happy Diwali. He noted, “May this Festival of Lights bring you and your families peace and joy.”

Significantly, Diwali is a Hindu festival which fell alongside Halloween this year. Diwali is called the festival of Lights and lights up the entire country. PM Drew also attended the celebrations that took place at the St Kitts Marriott Hotel.

Sharing the highlights of the Diwali Celebration, the Prime Minister expressed his delight of attending the local celebration. He noted that it was a pleasure to attend the Diwali celebrations where the vibrant culture was showcased.

During the event, PM Drew also emphasised on how the Indian Community and its culture is positively enhancing the significance of St Kitts and Nevis. He also highlighted the power of the cultural celebrations.

He stated that this festival beautifully showcases the resilience and spirit of the Indian community here in St Kitts and Nevis. “Your traditions enrich the local culture, reminding the strength found in diversity,” he added.

PM Drew also encouraged the attendees to look at their differences with a positive perspective and as bridges to deeper connections. He said that it should also be remembered that while the uniqueness of each culture is celebrated, there is so much that can be learned from each other.

Other ministers of St Kitts and Nevis, including the Deputy Prime Minister Dr Geoffrey Hanley, Attorney General Garth Wilkin, Governor General Dame Marcella, Minister of Public Infrastructure Konris G M Maynard and Agriculture Minister Samal Duggins also attended the event.

Minister Maynard noted that as the nation reflects on the values of Diwali, let the time inspire unity, generosity, and hope throughout the communities.

Notably, the Prime Minister concluded his remarks with a heartfelt wish for a happy Diwali, encouraging everyone to let the light of the festival inspire them to spread warmth and joy throughout the community.
