Nevis: The Ministry of Health et al invited all the parents for 2nd Edition of Educational Session on the topic, “The Stages of Childhood Development.” The session will be held on Tuesday and Thursday at the Franklyn Brown and Alberta Payne Community Centre respectively.

The two-day session will provide an opportunity to the parents and guardians to enhance their knowledge regarding the development of the child, which they will experience through the growing age of their child.

Usually, parents get frustrated during the initial days when their child put everything in their mouth, however, it is normal for them. The information of the above mentioned has been shared by the Health Promotion Unit Nevis through their official social media handle (Facebook).

“Parents often get frustrated when their toddlers develop the tendency to put everything in their mouth. Do you know this is a natural part of a child’s development? At this stage, they sense the world through their mouth,” added Nevis health promotion unit.

Following is the schedule and venue of the sessions:

  • Franklyn Brown Community Centre – Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 5:15- 6:15 pm
  • Albertha Payne Community Centre – Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 5:15 – 6:15 pm

The Ministry of Health has also shared the different stages of childhood development such as 1-6 months, 6-12 months, 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-years and 3-years. The parents of infants and toddlers will be taught about what they can expect at the different ages of their child.

The parents and guardians of the toddlers in Nevis are cordially invited to attend the session. It is being said that during the phase of 0-3 months, babies experience a rapid growth and development. They learn to track the objects through their eyes.

Following this stage, the child learns to rolls and crawl. They explore objects by touching and mouthing. The productive sessions will offer an opportunity to the guardians to understand these things, so they shouldn’t missed milestones or delays.
