The Ministry of Health in the government of St Kitts and Nevis is celebrating Breastfeeding Week 2023 in the federation. The celebration is currently underway at the Ministry of Health under the theme: “Enabling breastfeeding: making a difference for working parents.” The ministry of health in the government of St Kitts and Nevis is hosting a plethora of events to mark the celebration.
The ministry shared at the beginning of the event that The Nutrition Surveillance Program commemorates Breastfeeding Week 2023: The first practice that thet are taking up in celebrating the week-long celebration is continued training for our Nurses.
Further, the ministry talked about the baby-friendly hospital initiative that the country implemented in 2023. The Baby Friendly Hospital initiative was launched by UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1991.
It is an accreditation process that requires a hospital at attain specific standards concerning the ten steps of successful breastfeeding. Further, the Ministry of Health shared some glimpses from Breastfeeding Congress.
It is also one of the events which the ministry of health is hosting as a part of the breastfeeding month celebration. The ministry described the event as a powerful day at the National ITC Building. The Ministry further described the event as much-anticipate.
During the session, New and expecting moms gathered to absorb invaluable knowledge on what to expect after their little ones arrive in this world. The session took place on Thursday, August 3.
This event did not just focus on breastfeeding, but the overall well-being of mom and baby post-birth. It was a true goldmine of vital, hands-on advice! We dived deep into the art and science of breastfeeding discussing the benefits, best practices, and debunking common myths.
The new and expecting mother went from understanding the importance of the “golden hour” after birth, to exploring different breastfeeding positions, to building a healthy feeding routine,
The Ministry of Health stated that the session was all about empowering mothers for their beautiful journey ahead. Remember, each journey is unique and filled with its own challenges and triumphs.
