Konris Maynard, Minister of Information Communication and Technology, is on his way to represent the federation of St Kitts and Nevis at the Statutory Meetings of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU), the 45th Executive Council Meeting (EC45) and the 26th General Conference of Ministers (GC26) and other associated ICT events in the Bahamas.
Minister Maynard left for the bahamas on Sunday, September 4, 2022 and was snapped at the airport while leaving.
These regional meetings are especially critical for the elections of officers of the Executive Council and the General Conference as the Caribbean Telecommunications Union prepares for the upcoming Plenipotentiary Conference of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which is scheduled to take place in later September.
The meetings will also feature presentations and round-table discussions on the following issues:
- The Migration to 5G regulation.
- The proposal is to establish a single CARICOM ICT Regulator regulations for digital transformation, improve connectivity and reduce the digital divide.
Minister Maynard is responsible for the ministries of Transport, Public Utilities, Information, Communication, Technology, and Post and has been working tirelessly with all the departments and ministries under his charge to understand the workings of the various ministries and government departments.
Last week, the minister of Public utilities Konris Maynard visited the Cable Ltd, to familiarize himself with the staff and authorities of the organisation. The employees and staff of Cable Ltd also made him aware about the working of the department during the tour. In return, the Minister of ICT and Public Utilities expressed his gratitude for the organisation’s work to provide better facilities to the general public of St Kitts and Nevis.
Further, he had also interacted with the team members of the SKN Robotics team to encourage them and extend his best wishes and greeting to them before they go to geneva to represent the federation of St Kitts and Nevis in the Global FIRST global robotics olympics.
