JNF General Hospital is welcoming an Emergency Room specialist for their ER department in June. This is the first time that the country has a specialist for the emergency room. The doctor is expected to come to the island on June 18, and will be welcomed by the members of the healthcare fraternity.

According to the Ministry of Health, this is an important milestone for the healthcare capacity of St Kitts and Nevis. The Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew announced that the federation is making significant strides in Healthcare for the federation. 

The Prime Minister highlighted Joseph N France Emergency Room has never had a medical practitioner specifically trained for this speciality. With the arrival of a trained doctor, the community will be able to get better health facilities .

The Prime Minister revealed that they are in the final processes of hiring the specialist doctor. They have been searching for said professional for several months.

He also added that till the time that the specialist gets to the island, the emergency room will also be equipped to deal with the patients and support training of local doctors.

The medical practitioner will come from the United States of America and work on the field every two weeks. He will be responsible for training the local ER doctors and build a complete department for the JNF General Hospital

He will build a complete modern department for emergency medicine in the country. The government of St Kitts and Nevis has been working hard to make sure that they can develop the healthcare sector of the country.

Ever since Dr Terrance Drew has taken office, JNF General Hospital has seen significant developments including acquisition of  essential equipment, more facilities, better treatment and more. With the addition of the ER Specialist, JNF General Hospital has the highest number of specialists in the history of the institution. 

The JNF General Hospital already has neurologists, endocrinologists, anesthesiologists, urologists, nephrologists, and general surgeons, and other specialists on their payroll.
