As the festive season approaches, Superintendent of Police Cromwell Henry reminded the citizens and residents of St Kitts and Nevis that all social activities are suspended unless one applies for approval and written permission.
At the COVID-19 briefing of the National Emergency Operations Centre on November 4, Superintendent Henry quoted the regulation which prohibits the persons from hosting, visiting or attending any social activity in a public place.
He explained that a public place covers any space, whether outdoor or indoor, publicly or privately owned, which is accessible to the public via invitation or payment, whether implied or expressed.
The officer stated that if someone has an event in a place which is in public like in the square or Warner Park or they have it at their home, or in their house or their yard, it becomes a public place if the public is invited, and so they need permission.
The letter requesting permission to host an event may be submitted at the Basseterre Police Station or may be emailed to officeofcommissioner@police.kn.
Superintendent Henry said that the Police Force would simplify the process for persons to apply.
The officer said that they are working on a website where persons can apply online to reduce contact with anyone bringing or picking up a letter, and they would launching the website shortly.
