The Deputy Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Geoffrey Hanley, who handles the responsibility for the Ministry of Gender Affairs, is celebrating International Women’s Day in St Kitts and Nevis. The Ministry of Gender Affairs, under the leadership of Dr Hanley, has laid down the schedule of events for the celebration of International women’s Day.
The Ministry of Gender Affairs commemorates International Women’s Day on March 8, 2023, under the theme, “DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality”. The event is being hosted in collaboration with the women’s advocacy wing.
The Minister of Gender Affairs, Dr Geoffrey Hanley, took to his social media account to share an update regarding the celebration. He also shared the schedule of events for the celebration.
At the start of the week, on Sunday, March 5, the ministry of gender affairs, under Dr Geoffrey Hanley organized a Church Service at the Rivers of Living Water. The event started at 9:00 AM.
On Monday, March 6, the ministry organized an Interview on Good Morning SKN with Shinnel Charles.
On Wed March 8, The Ministry under Dr Geoffrey Hanley will organize the Minister’s Address by Junior Minister in the ministry of Gender Affairs, Isalean Phillip
International Women’s Day Award Ceremony at the house of the Governor General.
On March 9, the ministry will observe the Young Female of Excellence Award. This award honours outstanding young females from the Secondary schools of St Kitts. The recipients have participated in extracurricular activities. They acknowledge the women who display respect, compassion, discipline, and kindness.
Terrencia Wiggins from the Cayon High School received the Young Female of Excellence Award from her former principal, Andrea James, at a brief ceremony this morning.
Another award recipient, Angel Greene from the Saddlers Secondary School, received the Young Female of Excellence Award from Nicole Ward-Morris, at a brief ceremony held at the school.
Finally, at the end of the week, Friday, March 10, the ministry will observe Wear Purple Day.
