Out of the total 47 persons, five people have died and eight are still missing after an volcanic eruption on white island in New Zealand.
The Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern has informed the parliament about the volcano’s eruption on White Island. She confirmed in her statement to parliament that of the 47 people on or near the White Island at the time of the volcanic eruption, five were dead, eight were missing and as many as 31 sustained injuries, many of them are in critical situation.
She said that the missing persons are from Australia, the US, the UK, China, Germany, Malaysia and New Zealand.
Jacinda said in the parliament that the scale of this tragedy is devastating. “Our hearts go out to the family members of those who are missing or deceased, injured,” she added
St Kitts and Nevis minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation and Premier of Nevis, Hon Mark Brantley mourned the loss of life in volcanic eruption on New Zealand’s white Island. In his tweet he said that “St Kitts-Nevis mourns the loss of life and the many injuries suffered in the volcanic eruption in White Island New Zealand. Our prayers are with the government and people of the New Zealand at this very difficult time.”
