The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, is on a multi-day visit to the various healthcare facilities in and across St Kitts. On Monday, November 28, 2022, The Prime Minister visited the Basseterre Health Centre and Cardin Home. The following day, November 29, 2022, he visited the Joseph N France General Hospital.
During both visits, Dr Drew interacted with the staff and medical professionals of the medical facilities. The Prime Minister dutifully shared an update regarding the stops on his social media profile.
Talking about the Basseterre Health Centre and Cardin Home, Dr Terrance Drew said he visited the health facility to discuss several issues they have been facing over the years.
He further revealed that both facilities require much-needed infrastructural rehabilitation and operational upgrades to restore them to an acceptable condition conducive to operating standards.
In the update that the Prime Minister shared on his Facebook page, he stated that owing to his experience with being a part of the Medical industry. He is also familiar with the issues that the medical sector is plagued with. Accordingly, Dr Terrance Drew has committed to working on addressing these issues.
Further, the Prime Minister also revealed that the government of St Kitts and Nevis has already begun creating an e-government system to modernize and digitize the record-keeping and administrative functions within the various departments.
Further, the Prime Minister also shared an update regarding his visit to the JNF General. The medical institution, which is considered the primary provider of Healthcare services in St Kitts and Nevis, saw Dr Drew who received an update on the operations of the hospital premesis.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Director of Health Institutions in the Ministry of Health, Dr Jenson Morton and the Press Secretary in the prime Minister’s office, Adelcia Connor-Ferlance.
