St Kitts and Nevis: Citizen Security Community Conversations continue across St Kitts and Nevis as the citizens come together to hold discussions about crime and violence at the Bronte Welsh Primary School.
These significant discussions took place on Wednesday which was scheduled by the Citizen Security Secretariat and the government. The conversation focused on the suggestions and measures that could help in promoting an environment full of peace and that combats crime.
The discussions were held as a part of the 90-Day Campaign against crime and violence which was launched by the government of St Kitts and Nevis to mitigate the rising criminal activities and to promote peace.
Notably, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew shared highlights from the meeting and noted that the discussions are promoting an effort towards mitigating crime and violence. He called it a disease and a health issue that must be treated with effective long-term actions.
PM Drew also extended gratitude to everyone who participated in the conversation at the Bronte Welsh Primary School.
In addition to this, conversations were also held at the St Peter’s where people of the island nation were urged to promote a peaceful lifestyle and to join these meaningful discussions for their own safety and security.
Significantly, PM Drew officially launched the 90-day campaign against crime and violence on September 6, 2024, as an initiative to address crime in the nation and to ensure the safety and well-being of all the citizens.
A secretariat has also been established and it will reach out to all in our society who want to contribute positively to resolving this matter of increasing crime and violence. The 90-day campaign featured a series of National Consultations and other conversations that will encourage the citizens to take an active role in the fight against these situations.
