Nevis: A pursuit of Excellence, Charlestown Secondary School is celebrating its 74th Anniversary with a grand celebration on this Friday at 10:30 AM. The success of school is rooted in its exceptional teachers and the quality education provided to all the students.
The authorities of school extended an invitation to all the Nevisians to join the celebration of 74 years of Industry and Virtue. The foundation of Charlestown Secondary School was laid down by the late Helen Bridgetwater in 1950.
Since its inception, the institution stood as a beacon of excellence, dedication and ethics. It is to be noted that Spencer Howell M.H was the first graduate of the school. The information of the above mentioned has been shared on the official social media handle (Facebook) of Nevisian Culture.
“Join in the celebration of a remarkable milestone as the Charlestown Secondary School reaches 74 years! Since its inception in 1950, Charlestown Secondary School has stood as a beacon of dedication, excellence, and the enduring spirit of industry and virtue. Let’s applaud 74 years of educational legacy,” added Nevisian Culture.
The event is expected to bring together the esteemed dignitaries, alumni, which will reflect upon the legacy of the educational institution since 1950.
Charlestown Secondary School
The school is located in Stoney Groove at Nevis and it was officially opened on May 24, 1950 with around one hundred and seventy (170) students and 10 staff members. It is to be added that Nevis 6th Form College was established at the school in 1980. He school is being run on the motto, “INDUSTRIA ET VIRTUTE.”
Recently, the school won the 4X400 Meters Series against seven community schools at the Ginseng Up Classic Championship in February 2024. Charlestown school secured 9 gold medals, 11 silver medals and 9 Bronzes.
The school left no stone unturned in promoting and spreading awareness and education among the people. It has also actively participated in various campaigns such as Breast Cancer Awareness Day, World Cancer Day and many more.
