St Kitts and Nevis Youth Parliament Association members held a session and interaction with the Secretary-General of CARICOM, Dr Carla Barnett. The session and exchange took place on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.
The St Kitts and Nevis Youth Parliament members interacted with Dr Carla Barnett during the session. They discussed several issues of importance among themselves.
These issues included agriculture, food security, mental health, gender roles, technology, recovery from Covid, governance, electoral reform and youth skills training.
The attendants of the meeting session also talked about the various venues for collaboration, primarily through the youth ambassadors for CARICOM and the local corporations. These interactions ultimately aim to strengthen the regional integration of multiple states.
The meeting session with the CARICOM Secretary General, Dr Carla Barnett, was attended by the Youth Parliament Association President Mauriel Knight, Vice President Malakhi Ferguson and Treasurer Jalen Monzac.
Additionally, General members of the association, like Jalanie Belle, Darin Connor and Desean Newman were also in attendance at the meeting. The Secretary-General, Dr Barnett and the members of the SKNYPA held some very fruitful discussions with each other.

Dr Carla Barnett, the secretary general of CARICOM, is on a multi-day visit to St Kitts and Nevis. She held interactions and sessions with the various government departments during the visit.
The sessions are the first interactions between the CARICOM secretary-general and the government of St Kitts and Nevis. She used the opportunity to update the various newly elected leaders of the federation, including Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, on their responsibility as members of CARICOM.
