Mark Brantley, The premier of Nevis and leader of the opposition in the Government of St Kitts and Nevis, Premier Brantley is in the Republic of China (Taiwan) for an official 4-day state visit with a high-level delegation of the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister’s delegation left St Kitts and Nevis for Taiwan on Saturday, November 5, 2022. They reached the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei on Monday, November 7, 2022.
The Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, shared a photograph on his Facebook account featuring the entire delegation of the Prime Minister. A caption accompanied the image: An historic visit to Taiwan comprising Government and Opposition, St Kitts and Nevis. The relationship between Taiwan and St Kitts and Nevis remains rock solid.
The four-day-long state visit is the newly elected SKNLP-led Government’s first official visit to the Republic of China (Taiwan). Further, this is also the first time that the opposition leader has accompanied the executive leader of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Drew, on a visit as such.
Consequently, Premier Mark Brantley has termed this trip as historic.
The Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew, announced the visit to The Republic of China, Taiwan, on the National day wellness walk held in honour of the 111th anniversary of the Republic of China, Taiwan.
The delegation of ministers and high-level leaders accompanying the Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew, to the state visit includes the deputy prime Minister, Dr Geoffery Hanley, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas.
Further, The Deputy Premier of Nevis Island Association, Alexis Jeffers, accompanied the Prime Minister and Premier Mark Brantley to the state visit.
Among the other high-level delegation members is Senator Dr Joyelle Clarke, the Minister responsile for the ministries of Sustainable Development, Environment, Climate Action, and Constituency Empowerment. Senator Isalean Phillip is the Junior Minister responsible for the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Social Development, Gender Affairs, Aging and Disabilities.
Cleone Stapleton-Simmonds, the Member of Parliament in the Nevis Island Assembly; Samuel Berridge, Senior Assistant Secretary in the Regional Integration and Diaspora Unit in the Prime Minister’s office; Personal Assistant to the Prime Minister, Hazel Jeffers, and Michael Chau-Horng Lin, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
