The Saint Luciana police have announced that charges have been brought against several men for multiple offences which include murder, arson and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Anne Joseph, who is the spokeswoman of the police, announced the charges against the said men on Thursday in a news conference.
She told the reporters that between the months of April and November of the previous year, a series of matters relating to theft had been reported to the Vieux Fort and Micoud stations in the Southern division.
She further told that as a result of the reports, the police had performed several successful operations.
The police spokeswoman threw light on the fact that one Wayne Edward who is also known as ‘Coo-Couche’ of Bisee, was charged for robbing a business owner of 14,000 dollars cash along the Vieux Fort-Laborie Highway on November 25 last year.
Hensbert Kevin Mathurin of Mon Repos was charged for aiding and abetting the commission of the same robbery with which, Wayne was charged.
Meanwhile, in a different matter, a man named Vernil Dillon Charles who goes by an alias ‘Coke’ of Cul de Sac was arrested on November 27 last year for possession of an illegal firearm.
The matter is currently under consideration before the courts.
France Theodore was arrested on Thursday, December 19 last year and was charged for conspiracy to commit robbery. The said robbery was in relation to a homicide at Mon Repos, where Andrew Joseph was the victim.
Joseph, aged 76, was shot when some armed bandits decided to attack the minimart that he used to operate.
It was disclosed that France Theodore is on remand at Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF).
The police spokeswoman told the reporters that on Saturday, January 11, a person named Danzie Ferdinand of Lombard was also arrested and charged for conspiracy to commit robbery.The said robbery was in the of Andrew Joseph’s homicide.
