The office of the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis has successfully concluded Project Lead internship programme for the high school and first year college students. The officials have shared that this initiative is part of their efforts to include the youngsters in the day to day working of the administration.

The LEAD initiative had enrolled seven youngsters from St Kitts and Nevis and stationed them in various Ministries and Public offices in St Kitts and Nevis. The Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Naeemah Hazelle managed the internship programme thought of by the Prime Minister. 

The officials have shared that the members of the community will benefit from the initiative. The officials have shared that it is important for the people to understand that they are responsible for the future of the people of St Kitts and Nevis.

They will be taking over, sometime in the future, the administration of the country and run the government in various capacities. As such, giving the people of St Kitts and Nevis exposure to work with the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis.

The officials have shared that the youngsters often see their leaders in their schools and their colleges for appearances. They have interacted with their leaders on several opportunities however, more often than not, the youngsters are not aware of the inner workings of the administration.

The authorities have shared that these youngsters are the future of St Kitts and Nevis and should have the opportunity to work with the administration and learn of its workings on the inside. The officials have shared that it is crucial for the people of the community to make sure that the upcoming generation understands how the nation is run  .

The Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew had conceived the programme with the aim of bringing the people of the community closer to becoming the leaders that the nation needs. The officials have shared that the people will be able to understand the work done in different segments of the country.
