Jamaica Constabulary Force’s high command is praising the work of investigators due to which one among the most notorious gangsters of Jamaica was shot dead.

Orlando Chambers, who was thirty-four-year-old and belonged to Maxfield Avenue in St. Andrew was shot dead during a confrontation with the police on Thursday at about 5:50 am.

Police said that Chambers was listed as a person of interest in over fifteen shootings, murders and other violent crimes which date back to January 2019.

The police high command said in a press release that the targeted operation which led to the death of Chambers was the result of months of coordinated investigative work from detectives in the Corporate Area and St. Ann, spanning teams from SWAT, the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Unit and Specialized Operations.

Praising the work of the officers, Fitz Bailey, Deputy Commissioner of police in charge of the Crime Portfolio, noted that the people of St Ann are taking a sigh of relief after the news that a ruthless gangster was killed who had wreaked havoc on their lives and livelihoods.

Police said Chambers has been at the centre of an on-going feud between rival gangs for some time in St. Ann. Among the numerous active cases under investigation that he has been connected with are:

The August 2019 double-murder of Kemar Thomas and Llancelot White, o/c ‘Buck One’; both of them belonged to Parry Town in Ocho Rios. Both men were attacked by two men when they were at a shop drinking; they were both shot and killed.

The killings were organized by Chambers to end an on-going matter in the courts.

The April 2020 double-murder of Shenardo Gaynor o/c ‘Zidane’ and Omar Beckford o/c ‘Omie’ both of Kellington, Parry Town.

Their deaths were organized and executed by Chambers as a result of an on-going gang feud and related to accusations that Gaynor informed the police of gang activities.
