Following the recent allegations made by leader of the opposition, Lennox Linton, intended to tarnish the reputation of Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme, I feel it is my duty as a proud citizen of Dominica, living in the UK for the last 30 years, to ensure that my fellow Dominicans are no longer misled said Euigene Dwight in a video.
The misguided calculations made by Lennox Linton demonstrate that he either does not understand how the CBI Programme works, or, rather, it suits his agenda to pretend that he does not understand. Lennox Linton, as a respectful party leader, I urge you to watch the video I have created in the hope that you will attempt to educate yourself as to how Dominica’s CBI Programme operates and the many benefits it has brought to our small nation.
It has been well-reported that Lennox Linton asked Prime Minister Skerrit to make public the account of CBI-generated funds in order to properly account for his missing 1.2 billion dollars, and moreover, asked foreign investigative agencies to investigate CBI funds. The government, however, went further than this and instructed leading multinational firm PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) to examine exactly how Dominica’s CBI Programme has applied generated funds towards key projects and development areas over a six-year period. In order to carry out their evaluation, PwC travelled to Dominica, where it was able to uncover the facts for itself, a length that, to be frank, foreign investigative agencies themselves do not go to. PwC’s report heralded Dominica’s CBI Programme for generating “tangible impacts on almost every aspect of life in Dominica”, and brought complete transparency to the spending funded by the Programme, eschewing the speculation created by Linton’s claims. The conjecture surrounding Housing Dominica under Dominica’s Economic Diversification Fund (EDF) option are also clearly explained both in the report produced by PwC, and my earlier report.
It is worth noting that firms such as PwC are regularly commissioned by foreign investigative agencies to investigate matters involving international accounts, as financial experts such as those at PwC have the necessary experience and expertise to make them best placed to evaluate such Programmes and their financial impacts.
My video clearly simplifies the findings of PwC’s report and I, therefore, encourage anyone seeking to gain a clear picture of Dominica’s CBI Programme to watch it, in order to clear up the confusion propagated by Lennox. In the event of protests or any further hysteria caused by Lennox Linton’s irresponsible statements, I urge my fellow Dominicans to print out my report and distribute it throughout the community to prevent the spread of any more false information.
There are more pressing issues befalling the citizens of Dominica, with more and more people enquiring into the connection between Lennox Linton and Chris HP. If Lennox Linton was able to provide an explanation for this nexus, I believe that such material would give rise to a greater matter of public interest for the people of Dominica.
