CPL 2022: In the 28th match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2022), Guyana Amazon Warriors defeated the Trinbago Knight Riders by 37 runs. The CPL Association hosted the game at the Providence Stadium.
With this win, the Warriors kicked out TKR from the points table as the team could not secure their spot in the CPL 2022 playoffs.
At the end of this match, the Guyana Amazon Warriors had a solid seven points in the points table and were situated firmly in the second position. On the other hand, the Knight riders lost their chance of playing the final match, despite being one of the most successful teams in the CPL 2022 tournament.
Guyana Amazon Warriors have been securing back-to-back victories for their homeland. In this match, they scored 173 runs at a loss of six wickets. For the Knight Riders, they set the target of 174.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz opened the innings for the Warriors and gave an excellent start to his team, and made his second straight half-century with six sixes in 42 balls. The man of the match, Shakib Al Hasan, supported Gurbaz, and their partnership was one of the most crucial in the match, leading them to set the target. Hasan made 35 runs in 25 balls with four fours and one six.
On the other hand, Odean Smith and captain Shimro Hetmyer of the Warriors also played a brilliant inning and made 22 runs and 23 runs, respectively. Further, Sunil Narine took two wickets for Trinbago Knight Riders.
After the TKR came to bat, they didn’t get an excellent start to the innings. They scored a total of 136 runs when Shaaron Lewis (one) got one from Junior Sinclair to Hetmyer at long-on.
Caribbean Premier League CPL 2022 is nearing its conclusion as all the scheduled matches have been completed. The games were hosted by St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. Mow, the finals and playoffs will take place in Guyana.
According to the points table, Barbados Royals retained their position on the first spot, and Guyana Amazon Warriors joined the league and secured the second spot. Further, Saint Lucia and Jamaica Tallwahs stood at third and fourth positions, respectively.
