The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne, has taken to his social media account to share the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s manifesto. The political party has detailed their plans for the next term of governance.
According to the update shared by the ABLP, their vision of governance is to take Antigua and Barbuda to the next level. The political party has projected a growth rate of 6% over the next five years of rule.
The Political Party has stated in their manifesto that they aim to bring about growth at an inclusive rate, generate jobs, and reduce vulnerability and poverty.
ABLP revealed that they plan to pursue five strategic objectives in the following manner:
- Strengthen the macro-fiscal foundation for economic diversification, growth, job creation and a more resilient business environment.
- Continue to invest in the socio-economic infrastructure (especially in Education and Health) by promoting digital innovation systems.
- Improve social protection services, gender, and youth empowerment to alleviate poverty and reduce vulnerabilities.
- Further expand the subjects of study leading to a degree at the UWI Five Islands Campus.
- Provide more scholarships for higher education. Enlarge facilities for vocational skill training and provide certification for the skills learned.
- Adapt for climate change – Invest in climate-resilient infrastructure (ICT, Utilities, Roads, etc.) and promote environmental sustainability.
talking about their achievement in their last tenure of government, The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party noted that they built over 1,000 homes, built a new port, opened UWI Five Islands. Additionally, they saw Antigua and Barbuda through the worst pandemic in a century.
Now, ABLP believes that the economy is coming back, with jobs being created and record cruise ships and full hotels.
ABLP revealed their plan for the next five years, which includes, among other things:
–Providing monetary assistance to Small Business people so that they can grow their enterprise
–A new cruise ship beach club to at Fort James
–Seven new Hotel & Golf Projects across both Antigua & Barbuda
–Salary Increases for Public Servants
