A new political party is expected to be officially launched in Dominica in May this year.
According to the information, The Alternative Peoples’ Party (APP), which describes itself as a law-abiding, centrist political organization, was formed in the month of December in 2019.
In an article on its Facebook page, it states that The Alternative Peoples’ Party (APP) is a political movement which was founded on the principle of democracy, coexistence and justice.
The party seeks more significant involvement of women and the youth in the politics on the island of Dominica.
APP aims at the unity of the Dominicans under a common goal which is the prosperity for everyone regardless of their party affiliations, financial conditions and spiritual beliefs.
Based on reports, it is being said that political observer Alex Bruno is also a part of this new political movement. However, when Bruno was asked about his involvement, neither did he confirm nor deny his involvement in the new political movement.
According to sources, the new party has successfully attracted many young Dominicans, and a lot of them have had no prior serious involvement in the politics on the island.
The official launch of this movement is planned for sometime around the middle of May in the town of Portsmouth which has been decided to serve as the base of operations for the party.
It has been noted that the party’s focus is on the youth and women and that several young people, most of them being women, are already involved in early planning.
Also, the plans for the APP’s first Summer Youth Engagement and National Convention are already underway.
The party is now in the process of applying for registration with the Electoral Commission of Dominica and has hopes that this will happen before its May launch.
Bruno’s opinion is that the APP should be taken seriously.
Bruno said that he believes that the nation is now set for resetting the political scenario because the incumbent party in the governing machinery has overstayed. The deterioration which has occurred to the system is very seeming.
