500 people and more registered themselves for getting vaccinated in Jamaica. The vaccination was held at Red Stripe and Partners Private Sector Vaccine Initiative on September 8 Wednesday. They were immunized with AstraZeneca or Pfizer vaccine to fight against the COVID-19 virus and to mitigate the spread across the island.

Employees of the companies from the nearby areas and industrial belt and their families were focused during the vaccination. The vaccination was held at the Red Stripe brewery on Spanish Town Road in Kingston.

The minister of State for the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Dr Norman Dunn, while praising the efforts of the other important companies while giving his remarks at the vaccination site.

Minister Dun said, “I applaud Red Stripe today [and] the private sector for the continued assistance that you are offering, not just to the Government but to your country. This is not a government issue; this is not an Opposition issue; this is a Jamaica issue. There can be no divide on this very critical issue. We have to work together and ensure Jamaica builds back better. Vaccination is the way to go.”

The Member of Parliament from St. Andrew Western, Anthony Hylton, agreed with the points of Minister Dunn’s stance.

Managing Director for Red Stripe, Luis Prata, said that his company believes in the process of vaccination and would continue to support its workers to get vaccinated.

Mr Prata said, “We have to take responsibility as individuals, as businesses, as a community, as employees and as a nation.”

The Executive Director of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ), Imega Breese McNab, encouraged other businesses to join with the PSVI at the Girl Guides Association headquarters in Kingston.

The vaccination drive was in partnership along with Red Stripe’s distribution company, PepsiCo Jamaica, Celebration Brands Limited, Jamaica Biscuit Company and Massy Distribution (Jamaica).
