Barbadian Dave Dowrich is now Chief Financial Officer of TIAA

Dave Dowrich, a Barbadian, announced to be Chief Financial Officer of TIAA. After the decision, Bajan has taken a top position in the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA). He will take up the charge of CFO in the New York head office from November 1.

Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association is a leading North American investment firm that has its headquarters in New York. The firm has US$1.3 trillion in assets under management. There are over 16,000 employees working in the company. The company, in the recent day, announced the Dowrich would become the new Chief Financial Officer.

Dave Dowrich has experience working in Prudential Financial as Chief Financial Officer. He also worked as interim chief executive officer of International Life and Retirement.

Dowrich, who most recently was Barbados’ honorary counsel in Tokyo, Japan, was born in Canada but raised in Barbados. He attended primary and secondary school in Barbados and the University of Toronto. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree with majors in Actuarial Science and Applied Statistics and an MBA (Finance) from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

He began his career as employee benefits consulting in Toronto, after which he came to Barbados to be a member of the management team of Barbados reinsurance operations of a Canadian insurance company.

Dowrich gave his service as the Head of Corporate Planning & Analysis for Swiss Re’s life reinsurance business in North America. Here he was responsible for the performance measurement, capital management, performance enhancement and management reporting for the North American operations.

TIAA said Dowrich would be reporting directly to TIAA’s president and CEO, Thasunda Brown Duckett, and would become a part of the company’s Executive Committee. In a statement from the investment firm,

The long-time banking and insurance executive will succeed Glenn Richter in the post and oversee all financial planning, general account, management and reporting as well as actuarial, tax and accounting operations and strategies.
