St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan) have signed the first sister school to sister school agreement. The agreement has been signed between the Dr. Denzil L. Douglas Secondary School and Nanshan High School. The Principals of both the schools signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to help in the exchanges of language and culture.
The MoU is a unique way of promoting cooperation between the two nations. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas was also present at the signing of the MoU.
The embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) represented their home nation led by the Resident Ambassador of Taiwan to St Kitts and Nevis, Edward Tao. The Ambassador of St Kitts and Nevis to Taiwan, Donya L Francis was also present to witness the historic signing.
The officials have shared that the sister school agreement is a very positive step in the furtherance of the two nations’ cooperation. The people to people interaction between the two nations will be promoted with the signing of this historic agreement.
The sister school agreement is one of the most important endeavours of the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in St Kitts and Nevis.
The officials have shared that as a part of the sister school agreement, a bridge will be built between the two nations. The students from both the nations can learn more about the culture and lifestyles in the other nation.
According to the officials, the students from the high schools of St Kitts and Nevis, who want to pursue higher education in Taiwan can get a head start in getting used to the culture and lifestyle of the country. This is a very unique opportunity for the students to understand the workings of a nation in which they want to live and pursue their education.
The Embassy of Taiwan has called on the other public as well as private schools in St Kitts and Nevis to enquire regarding this programme. The officials have shared that the schools within St Kitts and Nevis can get matched with educational organizations in Taiwan.
The Ambassador of St Kitts and Nevis to Taiwan has confirmed that they have a number of schools in Taiwan who have expressed their interest in being part of this project.
Back home, Ambassador Edward Tao has shared that this initiative not only strengthens the bond between two schools but serves as a bridge of friendship between the two nations.
