The job fair which was called for the people to learn about the opportunities available to them as the construction of the Basseterre High School begins saw a large turnout of people. The event was hosted for the people of the island to be adequately involved in the construction processes.
The officials who were part of the job fair project, shared scores of people from different parts of the island. The attendants of the job fair had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the wide range of employment opportunities which are expected to become available as construction on the Basseterre High School (BHS) project prepares to get underway.
The project has been under development for several months with some of the work complete in Barbados, with precast material being shipped to St Kitts and Nevis. The job fair was organized by the government of St Kitts and Nevis in partnership with Preconco Ltd.
During the Basseterre High School Job Fair, contractors and project managers were present to deliver a comprehensive overview of the initiative. They provided all the details of the employment opportunities which are available for the attendants.
During the job fair, the stakeholders took the opportunity to outline the key details such as the project timeline, scope of work, and the variety of jobs to be created. According to the officials details shared during the even, the opportunities are expected to be created in multiple trades and skill levels. The positions for the event will be open for:
Carpenters
Masons
Electricians
Plumbers
Heavy equipment operators
General laborers.
The BHS Job Fair was held at the CUNA Conference Centre. The initiative welcomed both skilled and unskilled workers from across the federation from both the islands of St Kitts and Nevis.
