The members of the St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF) participated in a friendly basketball game on thursday, They were playing against the sailors from the Libertador Simón Bolívar (BE-11). The game was played at the Irish Town Gardens Basketball Court on April 16, 2026.
The members of the two teams showed a strong sense of camaraderie with one another. Their interactions were hindered at some places due to the difference of their languages, but they were able to have a remarkable game.
The St Kitts and Nevis Defence Force shared some images from the event on their social media. The event was proof of the strong spirit of camaraderie shared between both forces. The organization has shared that the basketball game was an occasion for the two organizations to to demonstrate that that mutual respect, teamwork and fellowship are not bound by borders or barriers of communication.
The Libertador Simón Bolívar (BE-11) was docked at the shore of St Kitts and Nevis, at Port Zante for 4 days. The duration of the vessel’s stay on the island of St Kitts was from April 13 to April 17th 2026.
The vessel was in St Kitts and Nevis as part of the their overseas training cruise, “Seas of Union for the Dream of Bolívar 2026,” The team was in St Kitts and Nevis under the command of Captain Carlos D’Suze.
After the Basketball match between the two organizations, a plaque was exchanged as a symbol of appreciation. The activity served as an occasion for the strengthening relationship between the St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force and the Venezuelan Navy.
The SKNDF has shared moments and highlights from the activity. They also said that they remain committed to fostering regional and international partnerships through engagements that promote goodwill, cooperation and mutual understanding.
